Aged for 18 months in mellowed American Oak barrels from Belvedere Winery to achieve balanced acidity and subtle buttery notes. A light golden hue with a nose of vanilla and bartlett pear. A luscious, full mouthfeel with notes of butterscotch, hazelnut, warm honey and slight minerality.

Aged for 18 months in neutral oak, the Chardonnay Reserve has an extraordinarily balanced acidity with a rich fruit quality. Smooth notes of white peaches, light butterscotch, and delicate nuttiness tempt the nose while the palate contains nuances of Meyer lemon, pear nectar and finishing with a lingering and light acidity perfect for food. Our favorite pairing with this wine is Anna’s French Brie with Honey Soaked Golden Raisins, a recipe card provided with every purchase of the wine.

Our 2014 Chardonnay Reserve comes from the McDuffee vineyard south of The Dalles. The vineyard owner, Terry McDuffee, is a veterinarian who has lavished enormous attention to the vineyard. Lonnie Wright, who also owns and operates The Pines Vineyard and Winery, manages McDuffee along with several others of the vineyards we source from. It has long been known as an exceptional site and we have enjoyed this fruit for over 12 years. Picked in early September in a very hot year we managed to get it at an optimal 23½ Brix, creating a very moderate alcohol wine. As with all of our Chardonnays, it was fermented in the barrel with the lees stirred throughout the first six months. We have a medieval approach to our wine and our Chardonnays in particular. With a pH of 3.63 we think we nailed this vintage right on the head! The age-ability of this vineyard shows extremely well in the Chardonnay Reserve. Bottled in March 2016 and yielded a scarce 101 cases.
