*Wine Press NW, Spring 2009:"Recommended. This established Hood River, Ore., winery offers up a bottling that blends oak with fruit in a pleasing mix of pears and green apples, backed by hints of grassiness and buttered popcorn."

2007 Merlot

*Chuck Hill of Wines NW: "Award-winning winemaker Michael Sebastiani crafted this tasty Merlot that exemplifies the expression "less is more." Juicy aromas of black cherry, cedar and herbs lead to a palate of ripe cherry, spicy oak, coffee and cocoa. A very nice accompaniment to our sausage challenge with moderate oak and alcohol."

2007 Cabernet/Merlot

*Chuck Hill of Wines NW: "Chef Ted remarked that this was like the �old style� of Cabernet Sauvignon with its ripe cherry, green olive, smoky toast and cassis aromas and flavors. Indeed, this style of forward Cabernet fruit is blended with 50% Merlot to create a very enjoyable wine pairing with lamb or beef. Good value."

2007 Zinfandel

*Chuck Hill of Wines NW: "Upon first pouring, the wine offered bright fruit aromas and flavors of berry and spice. After an hour's breathing, the nose burst forth with amplified character of black cherry, herbs, spicy blackberry and more. The palate brightened noticeably with rich flavors and a long, tasting finish. Superb with rich pan-fried steak."

2006 Cabernet Sauvignon

*Wine Press NW, Spring 2009: Recommended. Bangsund and neighboring Ashmore vineyards in The Dalles, Ore. supply all the fruit for this food-friendly Cab that features pomegranates, dried cherries, strawberry leaf and tremendous acidity."

*Wine Press NW article: "Fab Cabs of the Pacific Northwest": "Michael Sebastiani, who commutes from Northern California to this Hood River, Ore., producer, is the winemaker behind Cathedral Ridge. He used grapes from Bangsund and Ashmore vineyards, both in The Dalles, Ore. It provides aromas of cherry jam, cedar, sweet herbs and moist earth. The ripeness provided by this warm area near the Columbia River reveals flavors of pomegranates, black cherries and sweet plums. It's a sublime wine with notes of rosemary and finely tuned tannins"

*Wine Press NW article:"Fabe Cabs of the Pacific Northwest": "This Hood River, Ore., winery relies on fruit primarily from the surrounding areas, including warmer spots around The Dalles. This big Cab is loaded with ripe black fruit, including blackberries, black plums and hints of black currants. They meld with notes of chocolate and oak for a wine that has yet to show its full potential."

2006 Syrah

*Wine Press NW, Spring 2009:"Excellent. This winery in Hood River, Ore., focuses on nearby Bangsund Vineyard for this expression that spent 20 months in barrel. Enticement from cherry cola, brown sugar, flannel, cedar and Hershey's milk chocolate leads to a dark pour of cherry vanilla Coke followed by more chocolate and blackberry cobbler. Its balance borders on sublime."

*Wine SpectatorScore: 88 "Lithe and appealing for its joyful pepper-scented red berry floral aromas and flavors, lingering on the finish with some finesse. Drink now through 2012."~HS

It's blackberries, dark plums and allspice on the palate with Italian herbs to add complexity."

It's built for the long haul but will best be enjoyed in the meantime at the dinner table with tomato-based Italian dishes."
