Flavors of fruit and spice perfectly balanced. Fleshy boysenberry with a nose of black pepper, cherry, pomegranate and licorice. This wine rides like a Cadillac with glossy acidity and sturdy tannins. A year to year favorite that is a blend of our Reserve Cabernet & Syrah.

Our 2013 Rock Star Red Reserve continues to be a harmonious and rockin’ blend of Reserve Syrah and Reserve Cabernet. Perfectly balanced and distinct with flavors of fleshy boysenberry, black pepper, cherry, pomegranate and baking spice. Full bodied and memorable with supple, lingering tannins – like a good song. As a wine club member once said, “This wine rides like a Cadillac, glossy and smooth.” We include a recipe pairing for Whitney’s Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Bourbon Bacon and Currant Marmalade with every purchase – mouthwateringly delicious!

2013 featured the Bangsund Syrah from The Dalles, Oregon – an amazing vineyard that produces four outstanding varietals from one 7 acre vineyard: Pinot Noir, Riesling, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2014 Bangsund Syrah generated massive flavors by the time we picked early on September 13th in the middle of an unseasonably hot 107° heat spike. The Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon in 2014 came in later October at a nicely lower brix of 23 (a measure of sugar in the grapes). We often prefer picking with lower sugars when possible because it generates less alcohol; which is another goal with our wines. The varietals were aged separately in neutral oak barrels for 24 months before they were introduced to each other and blended. 99 cases bottled.
